Cards

Overview

Cards are the items the Cards block lists. Each one has a title, an image, a Description, optional editor content, an optional Link, and Categories. Create them under Cards → Add New Card.

The admin menu name comes from Customizer Card Name Plural (default Cards).

Cards use the classic editor. Revisions are on.

Fields

• Title — WordPress title; used in the listing unless you fill Display Title
• Display Title — optional listing name
• Link — optional destination. The link title, if you set one, becomes the button label on the block
• Image — featured image, shown in the main column (not the sidebar)
• Description — the WordPress excerpt, renamed on this post type. Used when the block Content is Description
• Editor — longer copy. Used when the block Content is Content
• Categories — terms that power Filter, Restrict Cards, and Stratified

WordPress features

• Supports: title, editor, thumbnail, excerpt, page-attributes, revisions
• Archive: none — put a Cards block on a page
• Public URL: off unless Allow Archives is on. That setting turns on each card’s permalink and leaves cards out of site search
• Permalink slug: Customizer Slug (default cards)
• Editor: classic (the block editor is off)

Page attributes (parent and order) are available. The Cards block still lists published cards A–Z by title.

Tips

• Write the card summary in Description; keep the editor for the rare case you show full Content.
• Assign Categories before you build a Stratified or filtered listing.
• Use Display Title when the admin title is longer than the name on the card.
