What Optimize turns off
Overview
These trims apply as soon as Dirigible Optimize is active. Translations and RSS feeds can be put back with a checkbox on the Language and RSS Feeds card in Optimize Settings. The others have no checkbox: to get one back, deactivate the plugin.
| What's off | What you'll notice |
|---|---|
| Translations | The site and the WordPress admin run in English, whatever Site Language says, and translation files for WordPress and plugins aren't loaded. Check Use the Site Language to put them back. |
| Emoji scripts | Nothing visible. Emoji still show, drawn by the visitor's own device instead of a WordPress script. |
| RSS and Atom feeds | Feed addresses such as /feed/ and /comments/feed/ show "Feeds are disabled on this site." Feed links are gone from the page head. Check Turn RSS feeds back on to put them back, links included. |
| XML-RPC logins | Apps and services that sign in through XML-RPC, such as the WordPress mobile app, can't connect. |
| Classic widgets | Recent Posts, Recent Comments, Calendar, Meta, Pages, RSS, Tag Cloud, Text, Custom HTML, and the Image, Audio, Video and Gallery widgets aren't offered in widget areas. |
| oEmbed discovery | Pasting a link from a site WordPress doesn't already know (not YouTube, Vimeo and the like) no longer turns into an embed. Other sites can't auto-embed your pages either. Known providers still embed as usual. |
| Head tags | The shortlink, REST API link, RSD and Windows Live Writer links and the WordPress version tag are removed from every page. Visitors see no difference. |
Gravity Forms pages
On sites running Dirigible 5.31.78 or later, pages with a Gravity Form skip WordPress's icon font stylesheet (about 35 KB). The theme draws the form's icons, such as the password show/hide toggle and the file upload delete button, without it. With an older Dirigible or another theme, the stylesheet stays. When you're logged in and the admin bar shows, it loads as usual.
