Free reservations

Updated

Set Checkout to Free reservation, or use the plugin without WooCommerce. Prices are hidden and visitors reserve with their name and email.

  • They get a confirmation email with the date, time and tickets, and a Manage your booking button: add it to their calendar, change the time, or cancel. Cancelling frees the spot for someone else. See Manage my booking.
  • You get an email for each new or cancelled reservation. Set where it goes under Booking Form → Send reservation notices to (the site admin email when empty). Reply to it to answer the person directly.

Spam protection

Free reservations come from a public form, so it's protected several ways:

  • A hidden trap field for bots, and only forms on your own site can send reservations.
  • One email address can hold up to two bookings' worth of spots on a bookable at a time, and one connection up to four. Variations of one address (Jane.Doe+rink@gmail.com, janedoe@gmail.com) count as the same person. Hourly and daily limits apply on top, counting reservations made, not tries. With Turnstile on (below), one connection can hold up to eight bookings' worth, since many people can share one network. Bookings → Schedule says when these limits turned anyone away in the last week.
  • If the site uses the Simple Cloudflare Turnstile plugin, every reservation must pass its security check. If Cloudflare can't be reached, reservations wait rather than go through unchecked.
