Articles
Overview
Articles are the pieces in each issue. Each one has a page, a Featured Image, an Excerpt, an Issue, an optional Category, and, with Dirigible People, Authors. Create them under Publications → New Article; the list is under Publications → All Articles.
Fields
- Title — the headline, on the article page, issue page, and in the sidebar table of contents
- Editor — the article itself
- Featured Image — the cover image at the top of the article page and on cards. Its caption appears under it on the article page
- Excerpt — the teaser on issue pages, in Featured Articles, and under the "Next Up" article in the sidebar
- Issue — which issue the article belongs to. Tick exactly one
- Category — the article's type (Feature, Interview, Review…). The menu calls them Article Types. Tick at most one
- Authors — from Dirigible People, shown as "Contributors" with links to each person's page
Editor basics
- Editor: block editor, with revisions. The editor lays the article out as its page does: breadcrumbs, the cover image and title, your content in the main column, and the issue sidebar. Select Edit on the cover to change the featured image, or on the sidebar to choose the Issue and Article Type; the sidebar's Article panel has the same buttons
- Web address:
/issues/issue-name/article-name/, or/issues/issue-name/category-name/article-name/with a category. The first ticked issue and category are used, so tick one of each - Article page: breadcrumbs, cover image and caption, title, content, and a sidebar with the issue cover and a table of contents of the issue's articles
Tips
- Articles without an issue have no proper web address. Assign the issue before you publish.
- Reading order on the issue page and in the table of contents follows the Articles list once Sort by dragging is on there (see the theme's Custom Order). Without it, newest first.
