Artists

Overview

Artists are the people linked from artworks. Each profile has a name, photo, short excerpt, full biography, and birth/death details. Create them under Artists → Add New Artist.

Artists use the classic editor. Revisions are on. There is no WordPress artist archive — use the Artists or Artist block on a page. The single artist template lists works linked to that artist.

Fields

• Name — WordPress title (the editor placeholder says Name)
• Artist Information
  • Nationality
  • Birth Date / Birth Location
  • Death Date / Death Location
  • Biography Excerpt — one or two sentences for the Artists block grid
  • Photo — portrait used in listings and the artist single
• Biography — longer biography on the artist single page

WordPress features

• Supports: title, editor (hidden on screen), revisions
• Archive: none — use blocks on a page
• Permalink slug: artist
• Editor: classic (the block editor is off)

Tips

• Write the Biography Excerpt for cards; keep the full story in Biography.
• Create artists before artworks so you can link them while editing a work.
