Artworks

Overview

Artworks are the works the gallery and single-artwork blocks display. Each one has a title, an image gallery, links to up to three artists, catalog Information, and optional Categories. Create them under Artworks → Add New Artwork.

Artworks use the classic editor. Revisions are on. There is no WordPress artwork archive — put a gallery or artwork block on a page.

Fields

• Title — name of the work
• Images — gallery of photos; the first image is the featured view on listings and singles
• Artist / Artist / Artist — up to three linked artists (post objects)
• Information
  • Date — year or date string shown on galleries and singles
  • Medium — materials (for example, Oil On Canvas)
  • Copyright — optional copyright line
  • Dimensions — size text
  • On View — when on, shows an “On View” badge (wording uses Gallery Name from Customizer when set)
  • On View Location — where the work is displayed
  • Description — longer copy for the single artwork layout and the Artwork block
  • Credit — credit line
• Categories — terms used when an Artwork Gallery is set to By Category

WordPress features

• Supports: title, editor (hidden on screen), revisions
• Archive: none — use blocks on a page
• Permalink slug: artwork
• Editor: classic (the block editor is off)

Tips

• Add at least one image before you place the work in a gallery.
• Link the primary artist in the first Artist field.
• Turn on On View only for works currently exhibited; set Gallery Name in Customizer for “On View at …” badges.
