Getting started

Visit the Artworks demo to see Artists, Artwork Gallery, and Artwork blocks on a live page.

Create an artist

  1. In the WordPress admin, go to Artists → Add New Artist
  2. Set the Name (title)
  3. Fill Artist Information: nationality, birth and death details, a short Biography Excerpt, and a Photo
  4. Add the longer Biography if the single artist page should show it
  5. Publish

Artists use the classic editor, not the block editor.

Create an artwork

  1. Go to Artworks → Add New Artwork
  2. Set the title
  3. Add one or more Images — the first image is used as the featured view
  4. Choose up to three Artist links
  5. Fill Information: date, medium, dimensions, description, credit, and whether it is On View
  6. Assign Categories if you will filter a gallery by category
  7. Publish

Artworks also use the classic editor.

Build a page like the plugin demo

  1. Edit a page and insert an Art Divider with a short headline (for example, Artists Block)
  2. Insert the Artists block and pick the artists to feature
  3. Add another divider, then an Artwork Gallery — choose Handpicked, By Category, or By Artist, and turn on the details you want (title, date, medium, on view)
  4. Add a divider, then an Artwork block for a single long-form work

Tips

  • Set Gallery Name under Appearance → Customize → Dirigible Plugins → Dirigible Artworks so “On View” badges can say “On View at {name}”.
  • Use Artwork Gallery for grids; use Artwork when a visitor should read the full description beside the images.
  • The Artist block shows one artist in a long-form layout; Artists shows a grid of several.
