Aircraft Categories

Updated

Overview

Aircraft Categories are the classes of the fleet: Light Jet, Midsize Jet, Super Midsize, Heavy Jet. Every aircraft type belongs to one, the aircraft's web address starts with it (/fleet/midsize-jet/hawker-750/), and the Aircraft Classes, Aircraft Class Strip, and Aircraft Explorer blocks are built from the category's fields. Manage them under Aircraft → Aircraft Categories.

Aircraft Category fields

Open a category to edit it and fill in the fields under the name and description (choose images from the Media Library with Choose an image and Add images):

  • Range (hrs), Speed (mph), Passengers (PAX) — typical figures for the class, written as text so a range like 6-8 works. Shown on category cards and panels
  • Excerpt — a sentence or two about the class, shown in the details panel
  • Amenities — what the class typically has. Shown as tags or an icon list in the details panel
  • Hero — the wide image at the top of the Aircraft Explorer panel
  • Featured Image — the image on category cards, and on Aircraft Explorer tabs when Label Style is Images
  • Gallery — stored, but not shown by the blocks at the moment

Details

  • Parent and child categories: possible, but keep categories flat
  • Order: A–Z, or the order you drag them into once Sort by dragging is on in the categories list
  • Category pages: /aircraft/category-name/ (the Class Slug setting) lists the category's aircraft in the theme's standard archive layout. The blocks are the designed view
  • Aircraft list: an Aircraft Categories column shows each aircraft's category

Tips

  • Tick one category per aircraft type. The address uses the first ticked one, and the category panels list the aircraft in each.
  • Set a Featured Image on every category before using Aircraft Classes or image tabs; a card without one is blank at the top.
