Getting started
Dirigible Fonts loads typefaces from your server — not from Google or Adobe CDNs. You choose which families to enable, then tell the theme where to use each one.
Activate a font family
- In the WordPress admin, open Fonts (top-level menu with the paragraph icon).
- Browse or search the directory on the right.
- Click Add to Site on the family you want.
- The family moves to Active Fonts at the top. Each card shows a Stack value (for example,
Inter, sans-serif).
Changes save automatically — you will see a brief “Changes saved” toast after each edit.
Assign stacks in the Customizer
Activating a font loads its files on the site. It does not change headings or body copy until you assign stacks:
- Go to Appearance → Customize → Styles → Fonts.
- Paste or type the Stack into Display Font Stack, Body Font Stack, or Alternate Font Stack as needed.
- Publish the Customizer.

Alternate path: Theme Setup
During Guided Theme Setup, the Typography step can activate font families and set stacks for you. You can still fine-tune families later under Fonts and Styles → Fonts.
Fonts not in the bundle
Dirigible Fonts covers families shipped with the plugin. For Typekit, Adobe Fonts, or other hosted CSS, use Appearance → Customize → Scripts & Embeds → Embed Fonts — see Embed Fonts.
Performance toggles
Settings → General in the Customizer includes Font Preload and Load Italic Early. Those affect how quickly active fonts appear; they do not replace stack choices. See General.
