Embed Fonts

Usage

Open Appearance → Customize → Scripts & Embeds → Embed Fonts when you need a typeface outside Dirigible Fonts and Styles → Fonts. Paste an Optimized Font URL — a full Google Fonts CSS link with the weights you need — into the first field.

Use Generic Font Embed only when no optimized URL exists (Adobe Fonts / Typekit <link> tags, self-hosted CSS, and similar). The theme prints that markup in the document head.

When to use it

  • A client brand requires a Google family not yet added to Dirigible Fonts.
  • Adobe Fonts or another hosted kit supplies a stylesheet link instead of files you can upload.
  • Matching editor preview typography to the live site for a custom webfont stack.

Tips

  • Prefer Dirigible Fonts and Styles → Fonts for bundled families — they are self-hosted and faster on repeat visits.
  • Include only the weights you use in the Google URL; extra weights slow every page.
  • After publishing, hard-refresh the front end and block editor to confirm the family loaded.
  • If both fields are filled, you may load duplicate families — pick one method per typeface.
