Navigation
Usage
Open Appearance β Customize β Styles β Navigation to set the default look of masthead menu links β the items in your Primary menu and any element using the nav-link style. Choose Font, Size, Weight, Transform, and Tracking, then Padding around each link and Background On Hover from your palette.
Link and icon colors on transparent or reverse headers are controlled under Header & Menus β Desktop and Mobile β this section handles type and hover fill only.
When to use it
- After assigning menus under Appearance β Menus, when link text feels too large or cramped in the bar.
- When uppercase nav labels should match Header 4 eyebrows β align Transform and Font choices.
- Adjusting tap targets by increasing Padding without changing Header & Menus β Desktop β Height.
Tips
- Background On Hover defaults to None β add a subtle Gray or Canvas fill for pill-shaped hover states on dense menus.
- Nav items styled as buttons switch to Styles β Buttons typography β use that sparingly for one standout CTA in the menu.
- Drawer and mobile menus inherit these font settings; bar layout and colors are under Header & Menus β Mobile.
- Utility bar links use Styles β Utility Nav for size and Header & Menus β Utility Nav for placement and colors.
