Post Defaults

Usage

Open Appearance → Customize → Blog & Posts → Post Defaults to set what new posts start with in the block editor. Pick defaults for Post Title, Featured Image, and Meta visibility on New Posts.

These defaults speed up editorial workflow — writers see the right starting layout before they publish.

When to use it

• Onboarding contributors who should always use the same title style or hero crop.
• Blogs with a standard fallback image when authors forget to set one.
• Reducing repetitive per-post Document Settings changes across a large team.

Tips

• Post Title set to Disable removes the title field from new posts — use only when your layout never needs one.
• Choose a neutral placeholder image that matches your Post Cards → Image Style crop.
• If meta feels crowded on singles, set Meta to Hide here and enable only what you need under Post Pages.
• Defaults apply to new posts; existing posts keep their saved settings.
