Header 1
Usage
Open Appearance → Customize → Styles → Header 1 to define how the largest heading preset looks site-wide. These settings apply to real <h1> elements and to any block or template that uses the H1 visual style (is-style-h1) — even when the underlying HTML tag is different.
Set Font (usually Display), Size and Mobile Size, Weight, Style, Transform, Tracking, Line Height, and Color from your palette. Together they form the top of your type scale.
When to use it
- Establishing the hero headline look before tuning H2–H6 under the other Header sections.
- When page titles and Hero blocks should share one bold display treatment.
- After a Fonts or Palette change, to re-check contrast and scale on photography-backed heroes.
Tips
- Headline Style in blocks changes appearance, not the page outline — a Hero set to H1 style may still save as an
h2for accessibility. The outline follows the HTML tag; the look follows this preset. - Mobile Size kicks in below 768px — long H1 lines often need a noticeably smaller mobile value.
- Color defaults to Text; on dark heroes, blocks usually handle contrast with reverse-print or text-background options instead of changing this global swatch.
- Logo site names and other templates sometimes borrow the H3 preset — only true page titles and H1-style blocks use this level.
