Usage

Open Appearance → Customize → Scripts & Embeds → GDPR Banner and toggle Enable when visitors must opt in before tracking runs. Customize Layout, Background, Reverse Print, and Shadow to match your footer or masthead.

Write the notice in Body (HTML allowed). Set Accept Text and optional Decline Text — if decline text is empty, only an accept button appears. Turn Show Privacy Policy Link on and edit Privacy Policy Link Text when you want a policy link beside the buttons.

When to use it

  • EU, UK, or other regions where cookie consent is required before analytics and ads load.
  • Any site using Analytics & Tracking IDs that should wait for explicit acceptance.
  • Replacing a third-party consent plugin with the built-in banner for simpler maintenance.

Tips

  • When enabled, tracking scripts from Analytics & Tracking stay off until the visitor accepts.
  • Corner is a compact bar; Centered draws more attention on first visit.
  • Pair accept/decline labels with clear body copy — visitors should know what they are agreeing to.
  • Test in a private window after publishing; accepted consent is stored in the browser.

Enable the GDPR cookie notice. If you have entered any IDs in the Analytics & Tracking settings, this will disable the tracking scripts until the user accepts the cookie notice.
