Search Results Page

Usage

Open Appearance → Customize → Settings → Search Results Page to edit the Body message shown above the results list. The field accepts HTML. Use %query for the visitor's search term and %results for the number of matches — both are replaced automatically and wrapped in bold text.

The default reads: "A search for %query returned %results matches."

When to use it

• Matching search page tone to your brand voice ("We found %results ideas for '%query'").
• Adding a short HTML lead-in before the result cards (a line break or secondary sentence).
• Localizing or simplifying the message for audiences that prefer plain language over the default template.

Tips

• Run a test search from the front end after publishing — placeholders only make sense on the live results template.
• You can reorder the placeholders; both must appear exactly as %query and %results.
• This controls the lead line only — result card layout comes from theme archives and Blog & Posts settings.
