Blog Cards and Single Posts

Blog settings control how your blog page and category archives look, how each post card appears, and how single posts are laid out. Set them once in the Customizer instead of styling each post by hand.

Open Blog & Posts

  1. Go to Appearance → Customize.
  2. Open Blog & Posts.
  3. Work through Settings, Post Cards, Featured Post Display, Post Pages, and Post Defaults.
  4. Click Publish when the preview looks right.

Choose a blog layout

In Settings:

  1. Set Layout: List, Grid, Cards, Columns, Adjacent, or Magazine.
  2. Pick a BG Color, and turn on White Text if that background is dark.
  3. Set Sidebar to Left, Right, or Disabled.
  4. Choose a Blog Page so the return link on single posts points to it.

Custom Layout: To build the blog page yourself with blocks, select a page under Custom Layout and place the keywords {{title}}, {{description}}, {{#}} (page number), and {{posts}} where you want them. Set that page to Private so search engines don't index it on its own.

Style post cards

Post Cards controls what appears on each card:

  • Featured Image on or off, and the Image Style crop (Rectangle, Square, or Natural)
  • Date, Categories, and Tags
  • Excerpt Length
  • A Link with your own Link Text, styled as a button or a text link

Preview the blog page in the Customizer after each change. Card text follows your Palette and Typography settings; tag pills use Styles → Tags.

Featured posts

Featured Post Display highlights your newest posts at the top of the blog page. Pick a Display layout (Wide, Full, Strips, Uniform, Single, or Hero), then set the Style, Headlines, Link Text, and whether the Date shows.

The featured area shows on the first page of the blog only, not on category archives or later pages.

Single post pages

Post Pages controls the layout of each article:

  • Layout: a page-like column, a sidebar on either side, or columns with post info beside the content
  • Title Align and optional Post Styles (text size, background, top border, and font)
  • Date, author, tags, and categories, and whether they sit before or after the content
  • Next and previous post links, a return link to the blog, and social sharing

Open a published post in the Customizer preview while you adjust these.

Post defaults

Post Defaults sets whether the Post Title, Featured Image, and Meta show on single posts. Each post can override these in its own settings in the editor.

Images on cards

  • Set a featured image on every post you want to show with an image on cards.
  • Use Image Focal Points so faces and products stay in frame when cards crop the image.

Write posts in the editor

  1. Go to Posts → Add New.
  2. Write the title and body with blocks.
  3. Set the featured image in the sidebar.
  4. Assign categories and tags.
  5. Publish.

The page layout around your post comes from Post Pages; your blocks fill the article body. True-to-Site Block Editor keeps the editor close to the live post.

Related posts

Turn on Show Related Posts in Customize → Blog & Posts → Post Pages to list up to four related posts under each post. The theme picks them by shared wording, categories, and tags, and leaves the list off a post with nothing close enough. See Post Pages.
