Blog Cards and Single Posts

Blog settings control how post lists look on archive pages, how individual posts render, and defaults for new content. Set them once in the Customizer instead of styling each post by hand.

Open Blog & Posts

  1. Go to Appearance → Customize.
  2. Open Blog & Posts.
  3. Work through Settings, Post Cards, Featured Post Display, Post Pages, and Post Defaults.
  4. Click Publish when the preview matches what you want.

Choose an archive layout

In Settings:

  1. Set Layout — Grid, List, Cards, Columns, Magazine, or Adjacent depending on how dense you want the index.
  2. Pick BG Color and toggle White Text when the archive sits on a dark background.
  3. Set Sidebar to Left, Right, or Disabled.
  4. Optionally choose a Blog Page for previous/next return links.

Custom Layout: When you need a fully block-built blog index, select a page under Custom Layout and use the placeholder keywords ({{posts}}, {{title}}, and others) in that page's content. Set the layout page to Private so search engines do not index it as a standalone page.

Style post cards

Post Cards controls what appears on each card in archives:

  • Featured image treatment and aspect ratio
  • Whether titles, excerpts, dates, authors, and categories show
  • Image style presets that match your brand

Preview the blog index in the Customizer after each change. Card typography pulls from your global Palette and Typography settings; tag pills use Styles → Tags.

Featured posts

Featured Post Display highlights one or more posts at the top of the archive — useful for announcements or pillar content.

  1. Mark posts as featured in the post editor (when that option is available for your layout).
  2. Tune how the featured area looks (size, overlay, and copy visibility) in this panel.

Single post pages

Post Pages shapes the article template:

  • Hero or inline title placement
  • Featured image behavior
  • Author, date, and category meta
  • Previous and next post navigation
  • Related content areas

Read through a published post in the Customizer preview while adjusting these options.

Defaults for new posts

Post Defaults sets starting choices for new posts — sidebar position, default featured image handling, and similar options so each new article does not start from scratch.

Images on cards and heroes

Build posts in the editor

  1. Go to Posts → Add New.
  2. Write the title and body with blocks.
  3. Set the featured image in the sidebar.
  4. Assign categories and tags.
  5. Publish.

The single-post layout comes from Post Pages settings; the block editor content fills the article body. True-to-Site Block Editor keeps the canvas close to the live article.
