Blog archives and single posts share settings under Appearance → Customize → Blog & Posts. Set the blog page and card look first, then tune single post pages.

Point WordPress at a blog page

  1. Create or pick a page that will list posts (often named Blog).
  2. Under Settings → Reading, set Your homepage displays and assign that page as Posts page if you use a static front page.
  3. In the Customizer, open Blog & Posts → Settings and confirm Blog Page matches when that control is available.

Configure the archive (Settings)

In Blog & Posts → Settings:

  1. Choose Layout and whether a Sidebar shows.
  2. Set BG Color and White Text if the archive needs a tinted or reverse-print look.
  3. Fill Default Headline and Default Description for the archive header when you use them.
  4. Adjust Page Number Format, Display Comments, and Hide Sidebar on Mobile as needed.
  5. Use Custom Layout only when you intentionally replace the default archive layout.

Style post cards

Open Blog & Posts → Post Cards:

  1. Set Featured Image, Image Style, and Headline Style.
  2. Toggle Date, Categories, and Tags.
  3. Control the card link with Link, Link Style, and Link Text.
  4. Set Excerpt Length.

Featured post on the blog

Under Featured Post Display, turn Display on when you want a highlighted post at the top of the blog, then choose Style, Headlines, Link Text, and Date.

Single post pages

Open Blog & Posts → Post Pages:

  1. Choose Layout, Title Align, and Post Styles.
  2. Toggle meta you want visible: Show Date, Show Author, Show Tags, Show Categories, Show Next/Prev Posts.
  3. Set Meta Position, Meta Align, and widths for meta and next/previous blocks.
  4. Optionally enable Show Social Sharing and Include Return Link (with Return Link Label / Return Link Style).

Post Defaults controls what new posts start with for Post Title, Featured Image, and Meta.
