Sell event tickets with QR code check-in

To sell event tickets on your own WordPress site, set a price and capacity on each event and let WooCommerce checkout take the payment. Each buyer gets an email with a QR code, and staff scan guests in at the door from a check-in page.

The steps below use the Dirigible Events and WooCommerce plugins. Turn ticketing on once for the site, then set it up on each event. Create the event first with Add events and an event calendar to your site. For a repeating series, see Set up recurring events; each date sells its own tickets.

Turn on ticketing

  1. Go to Appearance → Customize → Dirigible Events → Ticketing.
  2. Turn on Enable Ticketing.
  3. Click Publish.

Sell tickets for an event

  1. Edit the event.
  2. In the sidebar, open Ticketing.
  3. Turn on Sell tickets for this event.
  4. Set Ticket price (skip this if you're using ticket types) and Button text.
  5. Set Capacity. Once you add ticket types, this field is labeled Total / venue capacity.
  6. Turn on Show stock if visitors should see how many tickets are left.
  7. Update the event.

Dirigible creates the matching WooCommerce product for you. It stays out of your shop listings, so visitors buy from the event page.

Ticket types (optional)

Use ticket types for options like Adult, Child, or VIP at different prices.

  1. Under Ticket types, click Add ticket type.
  2. For each type, set Name, Price, and whether to Manage stock.
  3. Choose a Stock mode:
    • Count toward total — no type limit: sells from the event's overall capacity.
    • Count toward total — with type limit: sells from overall capacity, up to a cap for this type.
    • Separate stock: has its own count and doesn't use up overall capacity.
  4. Set Amount for the type limit or separate stock.
  5. Delete a type you don't need with Remove type.

Attendees, orders, and QR code check-in

Once tickets sell, the Ticketing panel shows tickets sold and checked in, plus links to:

  • Open scanning page: a check-in screen for the door. Scan each guest's QR code and it confirms them without leaving the page.
  • View orders
  • View attendees
  • Linked Product

The Ticket Attendees box below the event editor has the same attendee list and scanning link.

Tips

  • Turning off Sell tickets for this event stops sales but keeps past orders and attendees.
