Structured data is extra information search engines read to understand your business, articles, FAQs, and events. Dirigible adds it automatically from settings and blocks you already use. You don't paste a schema plugin on top of it.

It helps Google show richer results. It doesn't guarantee those results or better rankings.

What Dirigible already outputs

Every public page can include your site-wide business details, plus details about that page.

Source What search engines get
Settings β†’ General: Site Title and Tagline Business name and description
Appearance β†’ Customize β†’ Footer & Contact β†’ Contact Information Address, phone, email
Appearance β†’ Customize β†’ Settings β†’ Social Media Social profile links
Appearance β†’ Customize β†’ Header & Menus β†’ Logo Logo
Business hours (Hours plugin) Opening hours on that business information
Blog posts An article with the author, dates, and featured image when those exist
FAQ block An FAQ. Several FAQ blocks on one page combine into one
Breadcrumbs block The path from home to that page
Price List block Offers for the listed items
Yearbook block The people in the list
A single event (Events plugin) The event, location, and ticket offers when ticketing is on

Only the FAQ block counts as an FAQ. An accordion built from other blocks isn't included.

An event without a date isn't marked up as an event. Fill in the date, venue or linked location, and ticket settings you use.

Dirigible SEO handles titles, meta descriptions, and social previews. The theme still provides this structured data. Don't install a second schema plugin unless you know you need it; overlapping markup causes errors in Google's test.

Fill the gaps so it isn't empty

  1. Set Site Title and Tagline under Settings β†’ General.
  2. Fill in Contact Information and Social Media. An old phone number here is the one search engines see.
  3. Upload a logo.
  4. Give blog posts a title, excerpt, featured image, and author.
  5. Put a Breadcrumbs block on inner pages.
  6. Use the FAQ block for real questions and answers.
  7. For events, set the date and location, and turn on ticketing if you sell tickets.

Verify a page

  1. Publish the page or post.
  2. Open Google's Rich Results Test.
  3. Paste the page URL (or the page HTML) and run the test.
  4. Fix anything the test flags: missing names, empty addresses, FAQ items without answers.

You can also use Schema Markup Validator to see the raw data. Rich Results Test is the one that matches what Google may show in search.

After you change contact details or Customizer settings, update a post or click Publish in the Customizer so the stored data refreshes, then test again.

Things to know

  • Google decides whether to show a rich result. Passing the test is the goal; appearance in search isn't guaranteed.
  • Keep contact details current. Structured data republishes whatever is in those fields.
  • Ticket offers on events follow your ticketing settings when WooCommerce ticketing is on.
