Set up the documentation hub and lead gating

Dirigible Documentation uses a hub page for browsing files and an optional sitewide lead form before public downloads. Requires the Dirigible Documentation plugin. Gravity Forms is required for gating.

Lead gating and member-only access are separate. Selected users docs never show the lead form — see Create documentation and control access.

Build the hub page

  1. Create or edit a page that will be the docs hub.
  2. Insert a Section, then place a Documentation Explorer block inside it.
  3. Publish the page.
  4. Go to Appearance → Customize → Dirigible Documentation → Documentation.
  5. Set Documentation Base Page to that page.
  6. Click Publish.

Leave Documentation Base Page empty only if you do not want hub filter routing.

Turn on lead gating (optional)

Gating is sitewide for Public docs when enabled — not a per-doc toggle.

  1. Create the Gravity Form visitors should submit (email capture is typical).
  2. Go to Appearance → Customize → Dirigible Documentation → Gating.
  3. Turn on Enable Gating.
  4. Set Gravity Form ID (use 0 to clear the form).
  5. Optionally fill Headline, Subeadline (that is the live label), and Body (HTML Allowed).
  6. Optionally turn on Enable Gate Bypass and set Bypass Text (default No thanks).
  7. Publish.

Visitors see an overlay over the preview. The download control stays Locked until they submit (or use bypass when enabled).

Reset gating for a visitor (optional)

Under Dirigible → Theme Tools, use Reset Documentation Gating when you need to clear a stored gate so you can test the form again.

Tips

  • Finish the hub page and Explorer before wiring the base page — empty explorer pages confuse visitors.
  • Pair the hub with Create documentation and control access so Public vs Selected users is intentional.
  • Keep Subeadline wording short; it sits under the main gate headline.
