Lead gating

Lead gating turns public downloads into gated content: visitors fill out a form before they can download. One form covers every public doc on the site. It is separate from Access → Selected users, and member-only docs never show the lead form.

You need Gravity Forms. Create the form first, then enter its ID in the Customizer.

Turn it on

  1. Go to Appearance → Customize → Dirigible Documentation → Gating
  2. Turn on Enable Gating
  3. Enter the Gravity Form ID
  4. Optionally fill Headline, Subeadline, and Body (HTML Allowed)
  5. Publish

Visitors see the form over the preview on a public doc. The download control reads Locked until they complete the form. After they submit, the gate stays cleared in their browser until you reset it.

Only turn on Enable Gating after you enter a Gravity Form ID. If gating is on and the ID is left at 0, public docs show Locked with no form to fill out.

Bypass

Turn on Enable Gate Bypass if visitors may dismiss the form without submitting. Bypass Text is the button label (default No thanks). That button only appears when bypass is on. Dismissing hides the gate for this visit only. Submitting the form is what lets them skip it next time.

Reset

When the form or requirements change, open Dirigible → Tools and use Reset Documentation Gating. Everyone who had already submitted will need to fill the form again. See Features → Reset Gating.

Tips

  • Gating copy is site-wide. It does not change per doc.
  • Selected users docs never show this form. Use Member access for login-only files.
  • HTML in Body (HTML Allowed) is for short extra instructions under the headline.
