Create and edit a page in WordPress

To create a page in WordPress, go to Pages → Add Page, type a title, add blocks for your content, then click Publish. To edit a page, open it from Pages, change its blocks, and click Update.

Create a page

  1. Go to Pages → Add Page.
  2. Type the page title at the top, like About.

The title names the page in the dashboard and menus, and usually sets the web address. It doesn't show a heading on the page itself. For that, see Add a page title (H1) to every page.

Clear any starter content

Some new pages open with sample headings, buttons, or a background. Edit them in place, or select them and delete them to start from a blank page.

Edit the hero

If the page starts with a Hero block (Dirigible's full-width banner) or a Cover block:

  1. Click the hero, or select it in List View.
  2. Replace the headline and supporting text.
  3. Swap the background image if it has one. Size it first with Best image size and format for your website.

Add text and buttons

  1. Click the + button, or type / on an empty line to search for a block.
  2. Add a Heading and a Paragraph and write your copy.
  3. For a call to action, add a Buttons block, type the label, and use the link control to choose a page on your site or paste a web address.

To link words inside a paragraph, highlight them and click the link icon in the toolbar.

Preview and publish

  1. Click Preview to see the page as visitors will.
  2. Click Publish, or Update on a page that's already live.

Tips

  • Dirigible's layout blocks (sections, columns, heroes) do most of the design work for you. Browse the Dirigible Blocks docs to find ones that fit your content.
  • Give each section one main button.
  • When blocks are nested and hard to click, use List View.
  • To rework a live page without taking it down, duplicate the page and publish it later.
