Use a starting template

A Starting template is a published page or post you designate so the next Add New item of that type opens with the same block layout. Requires Dirigible Blocks. Drafts cannot be starters.

Make a page the starter

  1. Build the layout you want on a page (or post).
  2. Publish it (not draft).
  3. Open Document settings and find Starting template.
  4. Turn on Use as starting template.
  5. Optionally enable Include block content when new pages should copy the starter’s blocks, not only structure settings.
  6. Update the page.

There is one starter per content type. Choosing a new starter replaces the previous one for that type.

Use it

  1. Go to Pages → Add New (or Posts → Add New if the starter is a post).
  2. Confirm the new item begins from your starter layout.
  3. Replace sample copy and publish.

Tips

  • Keep starter content generic — every new page inherits what you leave behind when Include block content is on.
  • For reusable chunks you insert into many pages later, prefer Reusable blocks and synced patterns instead of a starter.
  • Starters do not replace Theme Setup starter pages from Run Theme Setup on a new site — those create named pages once during onboarding.
