Set up WooCommerce and add products

Dirigible styles the shop, product pages, cart, and checkout so they match the rest of the site. WooCommerce still owns the store: products, prices, payments, shipping, and tax. Install it, add a product, then check the shop.

Install WooCommerce

  1. Go to Plugins β†’ Add New, search for WooCommerce, and install it.
  2. Activate the plugin and finish its setup checklist (store address, currency, and the Shop, Cart, Checkout, and My Account pages).
  3. Confirm those pages exist under Pages. If a page is missing, assign it in WooCommerce β†’ Settings (Products for the shop page, Advanced for Cart, Checkout, and My Account).

The Store section appears in Appearance β†’ Customize only while WooCommerce is active.

Add a product

  1. Go to Products β†’ Add New.
  2. Enter the product name and write the description.
  3. In Product data, keep Simple product unless the item has options such as size or color.
  4. Set Regular price.
  5. Set a Product image (the photo on the shop card and product page). Add extra photos to the Product gallery if you have them.
  6. Assign Product categories if you want category pages.
  7. Click Publish.

Products with options (a Variable product) still sell. Shoppers pick the option on the product page; they can't quick-add that type from the shop grid.

Open the shop

  1. Add the Shop page to your header menu if it isn't there yet.
  2. View the shop on the front of the site. The new product should appear in the grid.
  3. Open the product and confirm the price, photo, and Add to Cart button.

If a published product is missing from the list, see Show missing WooCommerce products.

Payments and shipping

Set those in WooCommerce, not in the Dirigible Customizer:

  1. Go to WooCommerce β†’ Settings.
  2. Open Payments and enable at least one method. Use a test mode until you've placed a test order.
  3. Open Shipping and add a zone if you ship physical goods. Digital products can skip shipping.

Run a test purchase in a private window before you announce the shop.
