Create Manifest documents, snippets, and answers

Dirigible Manifest stores long-form Documents, reusable Snippets, and Answers for a knowledge base. Place snippets and answers with blocks — there are no shortcodes. Requires the Dirigible Manifest plugin.

Create a Document

  1. Go to Manifest → Documents → Add New Document.
  2. Write inside the locked Document layout.
  3. Optionally nest under another document with Page Attributes → Parent (and Order).
  4. Publish.

Documents have their own URLs. Link to them from menus or pages; nesting drives the document sidebar, trail, and prev/next. On a nested document, turn on List Children in the locked layout sidebar to show child cards, then set Children List Layout to List or Grid.

Create a Snippet

  1. Go to Manifest → Snippets → Add New Snippet.
  2. Write inside the locked Snippet Page layout.
  3. Optionally set a featured image or featured video.
  4. Publish.
  5. On a page, insert Snippet (one item) or Snippet Collection (several), pick the snippet(s), and publish.

Create Answers and a knowledge base page

  1. Go to Answers → Categories and add categories as needed.
  2. Go to Answers → Add New Answer, write the title and body, assign Categories, and publish.
  3. Edit a page and insert Knowledgebase (one per page). Set Title (default Knowledgebase) and optional Description. Leave Category empty for all answers, or check categories to limit the list.
  4. Optionally add Knowledge Base FAQ for a compact list.
  5. Under Appearance → Customize → Dirigible Manifest → Settings, set Knowledgebase Page so answer singles get a back link, and adjust Back to Knowledgebase Text if you want different wording.

Tips

  • Prefer Snippet Collection when a page needs several reusable chunks in one place.
  • Keep answer categories flat and visitor-friendly — they power filters and archives.
  • Document nesting is for structured manuals; snippets are for reuse across many pages.
