Documents

Documents are nested pages with a locked Document layout: sidebar, optional trail, optional child list, and previous/next links.

Create a document

  1. Go to Manifest → Documents → Add New Document
  2. Add a title
  3. Write inside the Document block (you cannot remove that block; you can add blocks inside it)
  4. Publish

A new document starts with placeholder paragraphs. Replace them.

Nest the tree

Open Page Attributes and set Parent. Child URLs follow the parents (for example /documents/policies/privacy/ when the slug is documents).

Order in Page Attributes also controls the sidebar list.

What visitors see

  • Sidebar — links for the current branch. On small screens it collapses under the page title. Sidebar Scope chooses top-level parent, closest parent, or the full tree. Sidebar Heading in the Customizer styles the title above that list.
  • Trail — Home, then each parent, then this document. Turn on Disable Breadcrumbs on that document if you do not want the trail.
  • List Children — cards for direct children. When this is on, Children List Layout is List (image or video plus excerpt) or Grid (title and excerpt tiles).
  • Adjacent Posts — previous and next links under the content. Adjacent Posts Style in the Customizer changes how those links look.
  • Enable Page Nav — a bottom grid of top-level documents, with Page Nav Headline (default Up Next).

Optional Featured Image and Featured Video (MP4, in the sidebar) show on List child cards. They do not print in the document body.

Permalinks

Document URLs use Slug under Appearance → Customize → Dirigible Manifest → Settings (default documents). After you change it, go to Settings → Permalinks and click Save Changes.

Tips

  • Keep top-level documents few so the sidebar stays scannable.
  • Use List children when the next pages need a photo or short clip; use Grid for a compact index.
  • Featured video wins over the featured image on List cards.
