People Appearance
Overview
People Appearance sets the default single-person layout and which contact fields appear on person pages globally. Per-person Layout in the editor can override the default.
Where to find these settings
- In the WordPress admin, go to Appearance → Customize
- Open Dirigible People
- Select the Appearance sub-panel
Settings
- Default Layout — Sidebar (contact left, bio right), Minimal (centered), or Placard (card). People without a bio always use Minimal.
- Show Social — display social URLs on single person pages
- Show Phone / Show Text Number / Show Fax
- Show Site / Show Email / Show Address
- Show Excerpt — show post excerpt on single person pages
- Show Categories — show People Categories on single person pages
Tips
- Use Sidebar for faculty with long biographies; Minimal or Placard for leadership headshots with short intros.
- Turn off unused contact fields to keep single pages clean — directory cards can still show selected fields via the People block.
