Dirigible Locations changelog

Latest release: 4.0.83, 2026-10-25.

4.0.83 2026-10-25

Fixed

  • On a site whose Footer & Contact → Country is Canada (or anywhere outside the US), a location in a US state no longer reads as being in the site's country to search engines. A State with a US state's name (New York, Washington DC, …) is in the US on any site, and its two-letter code (NY, DC, …) on a Canadian site (CA itself stays Canada there). US sites see no change. Needs Dirigible theme 5.31.275 or later; with an older theme nothing changes. Locations the theme had already cached are rebuilt on their next view once the theme has it.

4.0.82 2026-10-24

Fixed

  • Location pages in the editor: the editor shows each template's columns at the same widths as the site, for a screen as wide as the editor's canvas. Split Map shows the map and the details in halves across the page; Default and Details Right show the details a quarter of the row (a third on tablets) beside your content, and Details Right shows them on the right; Map Banner, Photo Banner, Photo Card and Freeform + Map show the map or photo across the page; Photo Banner shows the details beside the map again (the map had dropped below them); the cards and Centered's column match the page's widths. Nothing changes on the page.

4.0.81 2026-10-24

Added

  • Locations → Settings → General → These Locations Are: tells search engines what your locations are. Places (the default) is what location pages have always said: nothing changes until you pick something else. Our Business's Locations lists each location as a branch of your business, of the kind you picked in SEO → Structured Data (a Shop or Store, a Hotel, …); the location at your site's address, or your only location, isn't listed twice but points to your business itself, with its opening hours. Other Businesses lists each location (dealers, stockists, members) as a business of its own. A location with no street or city stays a place. Visitors see no difference. Needs Dirigible theme 5.31.270 or later, or it won't save.

4.0.80 2026-10-24

Fixed

  • Structured data for location pages: a location's country is no longer always the US. A location whose State is a Canadian province (ON, Ontario, QC, Québec, …) is listed in Canada, and every other location takes the site's country from Footer & Contact → Contact Information → Country (Dirigible theme 5.31.265 or later; empty, or on an older theme, it stays US). Nothing changes on the page. Every location's structured data rebuilds once after the update.

4.0.79 2026-10-24

Fixed

  • Maps behind the cookie banner, visitors whose browser sends Global Privacy Control: the map's Accept button loads the map on that page only, with no cookie and no tracking, also on the rare page where the cookie banner is missing (it used to turn tracking on there). It works with the Dirigible theme's new map-only signal and with older themes.

4.0.78 2026-10-24

Changed

  • Locations and Location Map filter tags: the selected tag's colours now come from the Dirigible theme, as on People and Portfolio (needs the theme update with readable selected tags). It keeps Color When Active wherever that reads, and turns black or white only where it doesn't, so a dark text colour you picked is no longer swapped for black. It darkens on hover again when its text still reads on the darker colour. Update the theme first; on an older theme the selected tag goes back to the theme's own colours.

4.0.77 2026-10-24

Fixed

  • Single Location block: when its location has been deleted, moved to the trash or unpublished, the block no longer shows an empty heading and a "See More" button that goes nowhere. It shows nothing on the page, and in the editor it asks you to choose a location.
  • Single Location block: set to show a map, a location with neither a map pin nor a Location Embed no longer leaves an empty half beside its details. The details fill the whole block.

4.0.76 2026-10-24

Fixed

  • Single Location block and Locations block, Cards layout: when the map can't load (mapping turned off, or Google Maps without an API key), a location that also has an embed (Location Embed) now shows its embed in the map's place instead of nothing. Locations without an embed still go straight to their details.
  • Single Location block: set to show an image, a location without one no longer leaves an empty half beside its details. The details fill the whole block, as they do when there's no map.

4.0.75 2026-10-24

Fixed

  • Single Location block and Locations block, Cards layout: a location's map area no longer shows as an empty box when the map can't load (mapping turned off, or Google Maps without an API key). Cards go straight to the location's name, and a Single Location block's details fill the whole block instead of sitting beside a blank half.

4.0.74 2026-10-24

Fixed

  • Locations block, Features layout: maps in feature rows now load on every page. Before, they only loaded when something else on the same page (a Cards layout on OpenStreetMap, for example) brought in the map script, and otherwise stayed on the map placeholder.

4.0.73 2026-10-24

Fixed

  • Locations block, Cards layout: location cards show their map again on sites using Google Maps. The map area had stayed blank since 3.1.29.

4.0.72 2026-10-24

Changed

  • Removed unused editor code; nothing changes.

4.0.71 2026-10-24

Changed

  • Location page editor: the round color buttons on the page and the details box now take their look from the Dirigible theme, the same as on event and person pages, and keep their dark icon on a dark background through the theme. On a light background the icon is now the site's text color instead of a fixed dark gray. Needs Dirigible theme 5.31.252 or later (sites update both together).

4.0.70 2026-10-23

Changed

  • Structured data for location pages: each location now carries a map link (hasMap, a Google Maps link to its map pin, or to its address when it has no pin), and its map pin's coordinates (geo) are printed as numbers. Google recommends both for local businesses. Nothing changes on the page. Every location's structured data rebuilds once after the update.

Fixed

  • Structured data: a location whose map pin is empty, saved as 0,0 or out of range no longer prints coordinates (it pointed search engines at the wrong place).

4.0.69 2026-10-23

Added

  • Background and Text Color for a location's page, from the round brush button at the top right of the page in the editor or the block sidebar's new Page Color panel (as on People and Events pages). Choosing a background picks the text color that reads better on it, and you can change it after.
  • The location's details sit on a lighter shade of the page's color: the details card on Default (without content), Map Banner and Photo Card, the details column on Default, Details Right and Split Map, and a band across the page on Centered, Contact Bar and Photo Banner. They can have their own Background and Text Color too, from the round brush button on their top left corner or the Details Color panel; Match the Page goes back to the shade. Freeform templates have no color buttons.
  • Existing locations look exactly the same until you pick a color.

4.0.68 2026-10-22

Added

  • Hide from Location Search, under a location's Location Settings (with Sticky Location): leaves the location out of Location Search (its first list, its "Showing X of Y" count and every search) while its page and Locations blocks still show it. Import & Export has a Hide from Location Search column for it (Yes/No).

Changed

  • Location Search lists every published location with a map pin unless it's hidden. Before, it silently left out any location without a Sticky value: ones added by Import & Export without a Sticky column, moved from The Events Calendar, or added by other code. Those added from now on show in the search. Sticky locations still come first, then the rest by name.
  • Nothing changes on existing searches. On update, every published location the search was leaving out gets Hide from Location Search turned on, once, so each search lists exactly what it did before. On a site that used this to keep locations out of its dealer search (Quest's equipment installs), they stay out, now with the setting visible on each location. To show one, turn the setting off. A site with Enable Mapping off gets this when mapping is turned on.
  • Locations and Location Map filter tags: the selected tag's text is black or white, whichever reads on its background (Styles → Tags → Background When Active), so it's always legible (4.5:1 or more). Sites whose tag colour already contrasted with white keep white text. On a light colour, such as an orange or yellow brand colour, the text turns black. The selected tag no longer darkens on hover. Same size and layout.

Fixed

  • Import & Export and Move from The Events Calendar place map pins again. Since 4.0.53 a location's Latitude and Longitude (from the file, or looked up from its address) were dropped on import, so imported locations had no pin and no place in Location Search or Location Map. Locations imported since then get their pin when imported again (an update import of the same file).

Upgrade notice

  • Rolling back to an older Locations: hidden locations that have a Sticky value show in the search again, and locations added without one since the update leave it.

4.0.67 2026-10-22

Fixed

  • Location Search shows a location you add, change, unpublish or delete on the next page load. Before, the block kept its list for up to 12 hours and its cards for up to 18 (Search Results Cache and Location Cards Cache), so a new location could take most of a day to appear. Changing a region or type, or the block's own settings, refreshes it too. Pages load from the same caches until something changes.

4.0.66 2026-10-22

Changed

  • Internal: the shared Dirigible field reader is updated (v5, also used by Dirigible Documentation). Pages and saved settings are unchanged.

Fixed

  • Location pages no longer show the email address twice. With Show Email on, the address shows once, as text with the contact details, and the envelope icon is gone from the social links. This changes only the pages of locations that have an email address, while Show Social and Show Email are both on. A location whose only social link was its email loses the icon row (in the Contact Bar template, the empty item too).

4.0.65 2026-10-22

Changed

  • In the editor, a location's Template picker sits on a light gray band across the top, and the page preview starts right below it.

4.0.64 2026-10-22

Fixed

  • In the editor, full-width and wide blocks in a location's content run as wide as they do on the page in the Freeform, Freeform Map, Map Banner, Photo Banner, Centered, Contact Bar and Photo Card templates, instead of being held to a column. Pages don't change.

4.0.63 2026-10-22

Changed

  • Details Right template: on phones the photo, name and details come first, then the map and content, as on Default. Before, phones showed them only after the whole page content and events.
  • Contact Bar template: on phones the details stack one per line and Get Directions spans the bar, instead of wrapping into uneven rows.

Fixed

  • Map Banner and Photo Card templates: the gap below the details card on wide screens is one section's spacing, not two.
  • Split Map template: the map stays below a sticky header as you scroll, so the header no longer covers its top and zoom buttons. The page content also starts a small gap below the details instead of right against them.
  • Split Map template without a map or photo: the details and content line up with the site's width instead of running edge to edge.
  • Contact Bar template: a long address that wraps no longer starts a line with a comma.
  • Newer templates: a location without social links no longer gets an empty gap where the links would be.

4.0.62 2026-10-22

Changed

  • Internal: block and field settings are read through the shared Dirigible field reader (the same one Cards, Manifest, Portfolio and Locations now carry). Pages and saved settings are unchanged.

4.0.61 2026-10-22

Added

  • Three more location page templates, also offered as the site's Default Template: Split Map (the map down one side at screen height, staying put while the details and content scroll beside it), Contact Bar (the details in one bar with a Get Directions button to Google Maps, then the content and the map) and Photo Card (the photo across the page with the details in a card over its edge, then the content and the map). Each shows the same details as Default, behind the same settings, and the editor previews it.

Fixed

  • Centered template: the details stay in a narrow centered column on wide screens, as designed, instead of spreading across the page.

4.0.60 2026-10-22

Added

  • Default Template under Locations → Settings. Pick how location pages are laid out (Default, Details Right, Map Banner, Photo Banner or Centered) once for the whole site, from drawings of each; the settings preview shows it. A location's template picker now starts with Site Default, which follows this setting, and has Default to keep a location on the Default layout whatever the setting says. Every existing location is on Site Default, and the setting starts at Default, so no page changes until you change it. Needs the latest Dirigible theme to save the setting.

Upgrade notice

  • If a site goes back to an older Locations, locations follow Default again, and one set to the new explicit Default shows Default too.

4.0.59 2026-10-22

Changed

  • The four newer location templates use the theme's layout classes. They look the same, except the Map Banner card: its padding on desktop is now the theme's 2rem, so its photo and details sit 8px further left, and its shadow matches the theme's.

4.0.58 2026-10-22

Fixed

  • Default template: "Open the website in a new tab" now works. The location's website link opens in a new tab when that's switched on, as it does in the newer templates. Locations with it off look the same.

4.0.57 2026-10-22

Added

  • Four more location page templates, picked from the template tiles: Map Banner (the map across the page with the details in a card over its lower edge), Photo Banner (the photo across the page with the name over it, the details beside the map), Centered (the photo, name and details centered, the map below) and Details Right (Default mirrored: your content first, the details in a column on the right). Each shows the same details as Default, with the same Locations → Settings switches, and the editor previews it. Existing templates look the same.

Upgrade notice

  • A location set to one of the new templates shows the Default template if the site ever goes back to an older Locations.

4.0.56 2026-10-22

Changed

  • The location's template is at the top of the editor's preview: a drawing of the layout, its name and a Change button. Templates are picked from tiles with a drawing of each, like the layout choices on settings pages.
  • The previews, Edit buttons and pop-ups now come from the Dirigible theme (5.31.216 or later). With an older theme, the location's settings show as panels in the sidebar, as in 4.0.54, until the theme updates.

4.0.55 2026-10-22

Changed

  • Edit a location on its page. The editor now shows the location's page the way visitors see it: photo, name, short description, social links, contact details, types and regions, and map, laid out by the location's template, with your page content beside them. Select Edit on any part to change it in a pop-up. Parts the page doesn't show (turned off under Locations → Settings) are faded with a note saying why. Freeform locations show only their content, or the map and content.
  • The sidebar's location panels are now one Location panel: a line per part (Template, Contact Information, Map, Social Media, Location Settings) with the same Edit buttons and pop-ups. The pop-ups space their fields out, so the Contact Information fields no longer run together.
  • Location pages look exactly the same. Each location's content now sits inside a Location Details block, which the editor adds when you open the location (nothing changes until you save) and new locations start with. A page that starts with a hero inside it keeps seamless navigation with the matching theme update.

Upgrade notice

  • Nothing to do. If a site ever goes back to an older Locations, a location saved with this version shows its content as before, apart from two things: content written in the Classic editor loses its paragraph spacing, and automatic excerpts (no excerpt set) are empty.

4.0.54 2026-10-22

Fixed

  • Locations block: Heading Level is back in the sidebar. 4.0.53's new sidebar left it out, so it couldn't be changed (blocks kept the level they had).

4.0.53 2026-10-22

Changed

  • Locations works without Advanced Custom Fields (ACF). The Locations, Single Location, Location Map and Location Search blocks and every location's details work with ACF switched off, and look the same with it on. Nothing is converted: blocks keep their settings and locations keep their details exactly as saved, so pages look the same and an older Locations version still reads them.
  • A location's details are in the editor's sidebar, in the panels Location Template, Map, Contact Information, Social Media and Location Settings, with the same fields as before. The website's link text and "open in a new tab" are plain fields now.
  • New map pin picker (a location's Map panel and Location Search's Default Location): search an address and select Find, use the location's own address, or click the map, then drag the pin into place. It works the same on Google Maps and OpenStreetMap sites and needs no Google key in the editor.
  • Block settings use the editor's own controls, with the same choices and a live preview.
  • A Map embed from a site that can't be embedded now stops the save with the reason in the editor's "Updating failed" notice, and the pasted code stays in the field.

4.0.52 2026-10-22

Fixed

  • Show Email off hides the email everywhere on a location page. With Show Social on, the address still showed as an email icon among the social links; now it's hidden there too. Sites with Show Email on (the default) look the same.

4.0.51 2026-10-22

Changed

  • Locations settings moved to Locations → Settings (or your renamed menu), out of Appearance → Customize. They're grouped into General, Maps and Location Search, with the same values, so there's nothing to set again, and old Customizer links open the new page. On a site whose Dirigible theme is older than 5.31.208 they stay in the Customizer.
  • Settings show only when they apply. The map settings appear once Enable Mapping is on, Map Tiles and its keys only for OpenStreetMap (the Stadia or Carto key only for a style that needs it), the Google key and cookie prompt only for Google Maps, and the location page settings only while location pages are on. Map Tiles keeps its preview of each style.
  • A live preview of a location page under General: a made-up sample location drawn by the real location page template. It updates as you change the page details, and nothing is saved until you select Save Settings.

4.0.50 2026-10-22

Fixed

  • Location Search: "Showing X of Y results" counts what's listed. The first number was the Initial Load Results setting (50 by default) whatever the list showed, so a site with 6 locations read "Showing 50 of 6", and the second number counted every published location, including ones the search can't list (no map pin, or outside the block's Region or Type). Both now count the locations the block lists.

4.0.49 2026-10-22

Changed

  • Locations → Import & Export looks addresses up with free sources only: the US Census Geocoder for US addresses, then OpenStreetMap (one lookup a second, as it asks). No Google key or billing is needed, nothing is sent to Google, and it works on Google Maps and OpenStreetMap sites alike.

4.0.48 2026-10-22

Added

  • Import & Export looks addresses up on Google Maps. On a site that shows Google Maps and has a Google Maps API Key, a location imported without a Latitude and Longitude (from a spreadsheet or from The Events Calendar) gets its map pin from its address, and the preview says which rows will be looked up. Nothing is looked up in the preview, and an address found once isn't looked up again for 30 days. If Google refuses (most often because the key only allows the site's own pages, or the Geocoding API isn't on), the next preview says so with Google's reason and how to fix the key; adding Latitude and Longitude columns still works. OpenStreetMap sites are unchanged.

4.0.47 2026-10-22

Fixed

  • A location's page no longer shows "page not found" right after Locations is turned on. Activating the plugin didn't add the web addresses for locations, so their pages answered 404 until the Permalinks were saved or another plugin rebuilt them. Locations now rebuilds them once on the next page load after activation, after each update, and when the locations slug or the location pages setting changes.

4.0.46 2026-10-21

Fixed

  • An old Map no longer blocks updating a location. The editor checks the Map with every Update, so a Map saved before the 4.0.38 rules (another site's iframe, say) failed the save with "Paste the map's embed code…", and through update_field() was saved empty. Only a changed Map is checked now; an unchanged one stays as it was (and still shows) until it's replaced or cleared.
  • Single Location block: the Map shows on OpenStreetMap sites. With the map provider set to OpenStreetMap the block drew nothing (it only knew Google Maps); it now draws the location's pin with OpenStreetMap, as the Location Card does.
  • Single Location block: the Image is sharp. The block told browsers the image was 100px wide, so they fetched a thumbnail and stretched it across half the block. It now asks for a file sized to its half of the block (the whole width on phones) and offers every size of the image.
  • Location Search: fewer rebuilds of the Show Contact check. The check that decides whether results carry phone and email was forgotten on every save of every post type (menu items, orders) and rebuilt by scanning all published content on the next search. It's now forgotten only when a post that holds, or held, a Location Search block is saved, trashed or deleted.

4.0.45 2026-10-21

Added

  • Old Events Calendar venue addresses redirect. After Move from The Events Calendar, once The Events Calendar is deactivated each venue's old address (/venue/<name>/) sends visitors and search engines permanently (301) to its location, as long as the location is published. Nothing redirects while The Events Calendar is active, undoing the import removes the redirects with the locations, and there's nothing to set up.

4.0.44 2026-10-21

Added

  • Move from The Events Calendar on Locations → Import & Export → Import (needs Dirigible theme 5.31.194 or later): when The Events Calendar has venues on the site, one button reads them into the preview, and the import adds each as a location with its address, phone, website, description, featured image and, from Events Calendar Pro, its map pin. The Events Calendar's own venues aren't changed, and the import can be undone. Move venues first: Dirigible Events' own "Move from The Events Calendar" then links each event to the location of its venue's name.

4.0.43 2026-10-21

Added

  • Locations → Import & Export (needs the latest Dirigible theme). Import a store or dealer spreadsheet to add every location at once, or update addresses and phone numbers across the list, with a preview first and an undo afterwards. Latitude and Longitude columns place the map pins, and the preview flags rows without them (addresses aren't looked up). A row matches an existing location by its web address, or by its name and street address, so a chain's locations stay separate. Export as CSV, or as JSON to copy locations to another Dirigible site.

4.0.42 2026-10-21

Fixed

  • A location's structured data prints its name and description as plain text ("Jason's", not "Jason’s") and leaves blank address parts out instead of printing them as null. Locations the theme had already cached are rebuilt on their next view.

4.0.41 2026-10-21

Added

  • Heading Level setting on the Single Location and Locations blocks: H2, H3 or H4 for location names, so the page's headings don't skip a level (for example straight from the page title to H3). Names keep their look at any level. Existing blocks stay H3 and look exactly as before.

4.0.40 2026-10-21

Fixed

  • A location's Map embed now has a name for screen readers ("Map of" and the location's name). Pasted Google Maps code has none, so screen readers announced only "frame". A title you added to the embed code yourself is kept.

4.0.39 2026-10-19

Added

  • A location's Map accepts Bing Maps' embed code (on Bing Maps, Share, then Embed a map). Needs Dirigible theme 5.31.177 or later.

Changed

  • Saving a location whose Map can't be embedded (another site's embed code, a link, or plain text) now stops with a message under the field saying which maps and videos work, instead of saving the field empty. An embed that only loses extra text or links around its iframe saves as before. Fields are checked when you publish or update; Save draft skips the check (as for every ACF field) and still saves such a Map empty.

Fixed

  • Saving a location in the editor stores a Map embed that already follows the rules exactly as pasted. Since 4.0.38 every editor save rewrote it (& in the map address became &, inline styles were reformatted); maps looked the same, but the saved code no longer matched what was pasted.

4.0.38 2026-10-19

Security

  • A location's Map embed can no longer run scripts or other code on the site: the location page shows only the embed's iframes, without event handlers, javascript: links, requests for the camera, microphone, location or payments, or any other tags or text around them (OpenStreetMap's share code loses its "View Larger Map" link, and a wrapper such as Vimeo's responsive box is dropped, so paste the bare iframe). Saving a location, whether from its Map field, the Custom Fields box or an import, keeps only embeds from Google Maps, OpenStreetMap, Mapbox, YouTube and Vimeo, so an author account can't frame a fake page from another site on a location page. Map embeds pasted from Google Maps (Embed a map) or OpenStreetMap's HTML iframe show exactly as before, and an iframe from another site saved before this update still shows. Upgrade notice: update the Dirigible theme to 5.31.176 or later first; with an older theme, Locations uses Dirigible Events' copy of the check when Events is active, and otherwise removes scripts and other code but doesn't check the map's site.
  • Location phone numbers and email addresses are no longer listed to logged-out visitors by the site's public data feed (/wp-json/wp/v2/locations), which let anyone download a site's whole contact list in one request. Location pages still show them, and the editor still sees them. Sites with Dirigible Events 4.1.50 or later already had this.
  • The Location Search block's search results no longer send every location's phone number and email address in the background data behind the map, and they list phone and email in the result cards only when a published Location Search block on the site has Show Contact on (or for logged-in editors). Before, anyone could ask the search for contacts the site never shows and collect them a radius at a time. Searches, map pins and results look and work as before.

4.0.37 2026-10-13

Fixed

  • Accepting cookies from a map's Accept Cookie Policy button no longer removes the site's cookie banner from the page, so the Cookie settings link (Dirigible theme 5.31.137+) can still reopen it there. The button now accepts through the banner itself, exactly like its Accept button.

4.0.36 2026-10-09

Added

  • A Carto API Key field under Mapping, for the Carto map styles. Carto stopped serving map tiles without a key on 25 September 2026.
  • Map Tiles shows a small preview of each style.
  • Four Map Tiles styles: Stamen Toner Lite and Stadia OSM Bright (Stadia API key needed), and Esri Light Gray and Esri Dark Gray (no labels, no key needed).

Changed

  • Upgrade notice: update the Dirigible theme to 5.31.114 or later first, so the Carto API Key saves.
  • Map Tiles no longer offers Topographic, CyclOSM, or Stamen Toner. A site already using one keeps it, and it stays selectable there.

Fixed

  • A Carto map style with no Carto key shows the standard OpenStreetMap tiles instead of tiles that read "API key required" (the same fallback the Stadia styles already had).
  • Importing the Locations sample data keeps characters like & and backslashes in titles, text and fields.

4.0.35 2026-10-01

Fixed

  • Location Search popups show location names as text (a name with < or & can no longer break the popup), and Location Map pins on Google Maps are named after their location for screen readers, with a hover tooltip.

4.0.34 2026-10-01

Fixed

  • The short description to excerpt migration keeps backslashes.

4.0.33 2026-10-01

Changed

  • Blocks register from a prebuilt list instead of reading each block's settings file on every uncached request.
  • Update checks use the Dirigible theme's license handling, so a plugin with no license key no longer sends an empty one.

Fixed

  • Location maps work from the keyboard and with screen readers: pins are named after their location and show a focus outline, Location Map cards and filter tags can be used with Tab and Enter, and Location Search announces how many results it found and highlights a result when its pin is opened. Nothing changes for mouse users.

4.0.32 2026-09-30

Changed

  • Block stylesheet versions are kept in one saved setting and refreshed on updates, instead of a database read and a file check per block on every uncached page load.

4.0.31 2026-09-30

Fixed

  • Style fixes to blocks now show in the editor, and on pages that load block CSS as a file, right after an update. Browsers and the host's cache used to keep the old stylesheet for up to a year; each block's CSS now gets a new address only when it actually changes.

4.0.30 2026-09-30

Security

  • Updates come only from Dirigible: WordPress no longer matches this plugin to a WordPress.org listing with the same name.

Changed

  • The installable zip is smaller: build sources, source maps, right-to-left stylesheets and Markdown are no longer shipped. Nothing sites load changed.

Fixed

  • A visitor who lands while the plugin is being updated sees "This site is updating, refresh in a minute" instead of a critical error, and error replies never include server file paths.
  • The Customizer can't crash when the Dirigible theme is missing or older.

4.0.29 2026-09-29

Security

  • Website, phone, email, address and category text is escaped on single locations, in the Locations, Single Location and Location Map blocks, and in locator search results. Map popups no longer turn encoded text back into HTML.

Fixed

  • Website links saved without "https://" (like www.example.com) now open that site instead of a 404 page on your own site.
  • Locator search results follow the block's Title Link setting: "Link To Post" opens the location page and "Locate on Map" focuses the pin. Results used to ignore it.
  • Locator cards show the location's email when Show Contact is on.
  • Sticky locations imported as "TRUE" or "yes" are listed first on the locator's first page again. Existing values are corrected automatically; cached locator lists update within a day.

Changed

  • The location edit-screen migration checks that the user can edit that location before it runs.

4.0.28 2026-09-29

Security

  • The store locator search runs a few database queries instead of two per location, so repeated searches can't overload a site, and its inputs are limited to what the search form allows.

4.0.27 2026-09-28

Removed

  • The old map placeholder image, replaced by a small drawn map in 4.0.26. Pages cached before 4.0.26 may show an empty map placeholder until the site's cache is purged.

4.0.26 2026-09-28

Changed

  • Map placeholders (Location Map, Location Search, single-location map embed and image map) show a 1.5 KB drawing instead of a 303 KB map screenshot, so map pages load faster. The placeholder no longer shows Google's branding.
  • Plugin download is about 530 KB smaller.

4.0.25 2026-09-28

Changed

  • OpenStreetMap maps load their map library (Leaflet 1.9.4) from the plugin instead of unpkg.com, so maps no longer depend on a third-party CDN or send visitors' IP addresses to it.
  • The block editor and other ACF screens no longer download the map library unless a Map field is on the screen.

4.0.24 2026-09-28

Fixed

  • The 4.0.23 download reported itself as 4.0.22, so sites kept offering the update. This release carries the same changes with the right version number.

4.0.23 2026-09-28

Fixed

  • With the theme's GDPR banner on, Google Maps now waits for the visitor's consent on cached pages. Before, once a consented visitor filled the cache, later visitors loaded Google Maps without consenting. OpenStreetMap maps are unaffected.
  • Removed a PHP 8 deprecation notice from the location search map.
