Locations Maps Settings

Overview

These settings choose the map service for location pages and the Location Map and Location Search blocks.

Where to find these settings

  1. In the WordPress admin, go to Appearance → Customize
  2. Open Dirigible Locations
  3. Turn on Enable Mapping, then open the Mapping sub-panel

Settings

  • Map Provider — Google Maps or OpenStreetMap
  • Map Tiles — the map style when using OpenStreetMap
  • Google Maps API Key — required for Google Maps
  • Stadia API Key — required for the Stadia and Stamen styles
  • Carto API Key — required for the Carto styles
  • GDPR Map Prompt — shown in place of a Google map until the visitor accepts cookies

Tips

  • Create your Google key in the Google Cloud Console and restrict it to your site's domain.
  • Map keys are visible in your site's page source, so restrict each one to your site's domain in the provider's dashboard. List both example.com and www.example.com if your site answers on both.
  • A Carto or Stadia style without its key shows the standard OpenStreetMap tiles until you add the key.

Enable Mapping

Turns on interactive maps, map pins on locations, and the Location Map and Location Search blocks. More map settings appear once it's on.

Map Tiles

The look of OpenStreetMap maps. Each style shows a preview. Carto styles need a Carto API key, and styles marked * need a Stadia API key.

Stadia API Key

Needed for the Stadia and Stamen map styles. Without one, those styles show standard OpenStreetMap tiles instead.

Carto API Key

Needed for the Carto map styles. Get a free key from carto.com/basemaps/apikey. Without one, Carto styles show standard OpenStreetMap tiles instead.

Google Maps API Key

Needed for Google Maps. Create one in the Google Cloud Console.

Shown in place of a Google map until the visitor accepts cookies.
