Tools
Overview
Dirigible SEO adds two tools on Dirigible → Tools: a Yoast migration and an llms.txt editor.
Where to find these tools
- In the WordPress admin, go to Dirigible → Tools
- Use Migrate Yoast Data or LLMs.txt Manager
You need an Administrator account.
Migrate Yoast Data
Copies your Yoast SEO settings onto Dirigible SEO for posts, pages, categories, tags and authors. Yoast must be active while it runs.
- Copies SEO titles, meta descriptions, No Index, canonical URLs and each post's primary category. Posts keep the same address when it includes the category.
- Follows Yoast's site-wide choices: post types and taxonomies Yoast kept out of search are marked No Index, and so are author archives Yoast switched off. The title separator, a latest-posts home page's title and description, and Yoast's attachment-page redirect carry over too (into SEO → Options in the Customizer).
- Converts Yoast's variables: the title, site name, separator and current year stay live (the title, site and separator pills, plus
{year}). Others, like the primary category or excerpt, are copied as text. - Replaces any Dirigible SEO values already on those items. Yoast's own data isn't changed, so you can run it again or switch Yoast back on.
- Ends with a list of what didn't carry over on this site, such as nofollow, separate Facebook or X titles and images, or a customised home page title.
After you migrate:
- Deactivate Yoast. Dirigible SEO starts printing its tags straight away.
- Clear the site cache, so visitors stop getting pages with Yoast's tags.
- In Google Search Console, submit
wp-sitemap.xml. Yoast's sitemap addresses redirect there.
To go back to Yoast, reactivate it and clear the site cache: the cache may keep serving the sitemap redirect until you do.
LLMs.txt Manager
Creates or updates an llms.txt file at your site’s address (for example yoursite.com/llms.txt) so AI tools can read a short description of the site. See llmstxt.org.
- Save llms.txt writes the textarea to the file
- Reload from File reads the file back into the editor
- Delete llms.txt removes the file
This tool is not compatible with WordPress multisite.
Tips
- While both plugins are on, Dirigible SEO’s tags stay switched off, so turn Yoast off once the migration is done.
- Anyone can read
llms.txt, so do not paste private notes.
