The Music page

Your site has a Music page at yoursite.com/music/, made for you when you publish your first release. It's an ordinary page under Pages, called Music, with a Releases block on it, so you can add your own words, photos, a video or a sign-up form above or below the releases, and edit it like any other page. The Releases block lists every published release, newest first by release date, as a grid of covers with the title, type and month. Each card has a Listen link to the release's link page and a Buy link (to the store when there's one buy link, or to the release page's buy buttons when there are several). Before a release date, Pre-save takes the place of Listen.

When you have more than one kind of release, buttons above the grid show one kind at a time: All, Albums, EPs, Singles, Live albums, Compilations (only the kinds you have).

To use a different page, put a Releases block on it and pick it as Music page under Music → Settings; if it lives at another address, /music/ sends visitors to it. If you delete the Music page, a plain list of every release shows at /music/ instead, and it isn't made again.

Add the Music page to your menu like any other link. Its address comes from Releases address under Music → Settings; each release page is under it, like /music/release-name/. A release page ends with "More releases": four others, and a link back to all your music.

On any page

  • The Releases block is the same list, anywhere. Show everything, only what's Out now, or what's Upcoming; only some kinds (just Singles, say); newest or oldest first; and limit how many. Or pick releases by hand, in your own order. Lay them out as a Grid, a List, Featured (your newest release large, with its buttons, then the rest in a grid), a Shelf (one row that scrolls sideways) or a Table (compact rows, for a big catalogue). Group by puts each kind or each year under its own heading. Mark upcoming releases adds an "Out Nov 11" badge until release day. Turn the filter buttons, the type and date line, the links and an All music link on or off. Four of your latest on the home page is a good start, and a shelf of singles under the albums works well on a Music page.
  • Upcoming releases: a Release block left on Newest release features your next one (with its pre-save), and a Releases block under it set to Leave out the newest release lists the rest. An Upcoming list with Text when empty ("New music soon.") never sits empty.
  • The Release block features one release: its cover, title, listen and buy buttons and player. Left on Newest release, it changes by itself when you publish a new one. Its Layout follows Release page layout under Music → Settings unless you pick another.
  • The Spotify Player block plays your Spotify artist page (your top tracks, with a Follow button) from the Spotify link under Music → Settings → Artist profiles. Good on a home page or an About page.
  • The Lyrics block with All songs, by release makes a lyrics page: every song with lyrics, grouped by release, with a list to jump to each. With One release, it lists one release's lyrics.

The blocks work inside columns and other layout blocks too.
