Gravity Forms Basics

Looking to collect some feedback or information from your users? Here is the easiest way to get up and running with a simple Gravity Form on your Dirigible site.

Sure! Here’s a breakdown of the steps to set up simple Gravity Forms on your Dirigible site:

  1. Access the backend of your website and navigate to the “Forms” section.
  2. Click on “Add New Form” to create a new form. Give it a name, such as “Super Sweet Form.”
  3. In the form editor, you’ll construct your Gravity Form. For this example, let’s create a form with an email field and a comment field.
  4. Customize the email field settings to make it required for users to provide their email address.
  5. Rename the second field to “Comments” or any other suitable label.
  6. Save the form once you’re done constructing it.
  7. By default, the form should work on your site, but let’s explore additional settings such as confirmations and notifications.
  8. Confirmations allow you to set up a thank-you page or message after the form is submitted. Create a thank-you page by going to “Pages” and adding a new page specifically for this purpose.
  9. Design the thank-you page content, add a suitable message, and publish the page.
  10. Go back to the Gravity Form editor and access the form settings. Specifically, focus on the “Confirmations” section.
  11. Edit the default confirmation and change it from a simple text message to a page confirmation.
  12. Select the “Super Cool Thank You Form Page” you created earlier as the page confirmation.
  13. Save the confirmation settings.
  14. Additionally, you can configure notifications. By default, the admin notification sends an email to notify you of form submissions. You can customize this email using merge tags and other settings documented in Gravity Forms’ own documentation.
  15. To add the form to a page, go to the desired page (e.g., the thank-you page) and use the Gravity Forms block to insert the form.
  16. In the Gravity Forms block settings, select the “Super Sweet Form” you created earlier. You can preview the form and choose whether to display the title or description.
  17. Customize the form title if needed (e.g., change it to “Contact Us” for context).
  18. Save the page and view it on your site. The form should now be displayed.
  19. Test the form by submitting it. You should be redirected to the thank-you page.
  20. By tracking the visits to the thank-you page in Google Analytics, you can indirectly measure the conversion rates of your forms and assess the return on investment (ROI) of your marketing efforts.
  21. To view the form entries, go back to the backend and navigate to the “Forms” section. You’ll see the “Super Sweet Form” with the number of entries. Click on it to view the submitted entries.

Gravity Forms can be powerful and offer various customization options, allowing you to create complex forms and collect different types of data from users. It’s a valuable tool to have on your Dirigible site.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.
